2020 Suzuki GSX-S1000 And GSX-S1000F First Look Preview

GSX-R1000 genes in a rider-friendly package.

The 2020 Suzuki GSX-S1000 is unchanged for this year, other than its blue or gray color options, but it is still a capable streetbike. At the core of this motorcycle is the legendary GSX-R1000 K5 engine with its torquey power delivery offering up gobs of smile-per-mile hooligan-style performance. The GSX-S1000 combines the best of that generation GSX-R with a comfortable riding position that features Renthal Fat Bar, a plush seat, and relaxed rider triangle then adds in as many rider-assist functions as you can shoehorn into an unfaired bike.

Suzuki describes the GSX-S1000 as a "naked roadster" that looks "wild, rugged, and aggressive," which isn't too far from the truth. Although it was not refined for this year, the 2020 Suzuki GSX-S1000 is a real nice motorcycle. Suzuki

Some of the high tech hardware includes Suzuki Advanced Traction Control System, Suzuki Easy Start, ABS, and Low RPM Assist. Fully adjustable 43mm inverted KYB fork and shock offer up a comfortable ride and help the bike navigate through the corners like a sportbike. A pair of Brembo Monoblock four-piston calipers and dual 310mm discs provide impressive stopping power while the standard ABS takes some of the worry out of riding on wet or dirty roads. But it's the Suzuki style that is likely to draw buyers to the dealer.

A distinctively shaped headlight looks a lot like a Suzuki sportbike and that's okay with us. The tailsection features an integrated LED taillight with a clear lens and red diodes. This is starting to become a trend in the industry. Suzuki

With its swoopy, yet angular lines, massive 4.5-gallon fuel tank, twin-spar aluminum frame, braced swingarm, unique headlight configuration, and narrow tailsection combined with the factory racing team inspired Metallic Triton Blue colorway, the bike basically looks like a stripped-down Gixxer. That in and of itself is enough to attract riders looking for an exciting ride that doesn hurt their back, wrists, and neck after a long day in the saddle.

The 2020 GSX-S1000 will be available in Metallic Triton Blue or Matte Black/Gray. Suzuki

Suzuki has not announced pricing or availability at this time but you can assume it will be near the $11,099 price tag of the 2019 version. And you can get the GSX-S in either blue or gray this year.

Not to be outdone by its naked sibling, the 2020 Suzuki GSX-S1000F sport-touring bike is back as well. This model is basically a fully faired version of the GSX-S1000 so we will forgo the minutiae of regurgitated details that we've already mentioned and get right to the new stuff. It will be available in black this year. Price and availability have yet to be released. Nuff said.

Using a design similar to the clutch on the new GSX-R1000R, the 2020 GSX-S1000 offers the Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) which smooths out the act of shifting and engine-braking, no matter how ham-fisted you may be. Suzuki
